- Backed by the Pentagon: The Navy, long jealous of the Air Force's role in the series, got their own here, including a submarine breaking the ice. That is, the Los Angeles Class submarine seen in the movie is real, and so is her crew. While the camera was rolling, Richard Dean Anderson was ordering around real Navy sailors.
- Hide Your Pregnancy: Claudia Black was pregnant while filming, so they filmed her character in loose dresses, from certain angles, and holding a BFG, to hide it. This is likewise why Quetesh wears a loose, flowing dress rather than more form-fitting clothing.
- Refitted for Sequel: A variation. According to the DVD Commentary, the footage of the alternate President Hayes addressing the nation from the Oval Office was actually originally shot for "Lost City". It was ultimately not used in that episode's final cut, but was finally reused here to establish the political response to Ba'al's impending 'visit'.
- What Could Have Been: According to the DVD Commentary, originally, Ba'al mockingly 'rewarded' Camulus with governorship of Canada rather than Australia. As a Canadian, Brad Wright ultimately changed it as he felt SG-1 had done enough friendly potshots at Canada at this point.
