• Method Acting: John de Lancie was actually nude for Q's arrival on the Enterprise. The production team did everything in their power to provide coverage of his penis before realizing that in order for the shot to work, de Lancie had to be nude (apparently, a merkin was not considered.) So naturally when it came time to film that scene, de Lancie simply walked on set and dropped his bathrobe immediately.
• Recycled Script: An almost identical story with Q being Brought Down to Normal, then having his powers restored when he made a Heroic Sacrifice, had previously been published in the TNG tie-in comic series.
• Uncredited Role: Corbin Bernsen as Q2.
