• Creator Backlash: Andrew Robinson does not like this episode because of how, in his eyes, it reduced Garak into a one-dimensional psycho. It also reminded him of playing Scorpio in Dirty Harry, a role he doesn't remember with much fondness, largely because it had been his Star-Making Role and he'd been fighting against being Typecast in this role for 25 years since.
• Recycled Set: Using another station of the same type as DS9 as the setting allowed this. Empok Nor reappeared later for the same reason.
