Deleted Scene: The infamous "security system" scene, seen below.
Edited for Syndication: The episode originally contained a scene in which Squidward ran into the Krusty Krab's "security system": a Bucket Booby-Trap. Except it's not water, it's gasoline. And it happens twice. These forty seconds were cut in 2002 out of fear that kids would imitate the stunt (a common misconception is that the scene was deleted in the wake of 9/11, but it actually first aired on October 5, 2001, nearly a month after the attacks). Reports exist that the scene was actually kept until around 2005, and some foreign dubs that were recorded early in the 2000s have the scene intact. The scene still airs outside of the United States and the United Kingdom. The scene was also removed on DVD and even on Paramount+.
Keep Circulating the Tapes: The deleted scene mentioned above is usually left out on home releases. The scene by itself can sometimes be found online but it's a bit more difficult to find the whole episode unedited.
