• Approval of God: After seeing this episode, Courteney Cox thanked Trey Parker and Matt Stone for "mentioning her in that episode" (referring to Mr. Broflovski's line in "Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel") at a dinner for a mutual friend.
• In Memoriam: The episode is dedicated to Mary Kay Bergman (the voice of most of the female characters), who committed suicide three weeks before the episode premiered. Bergman's characters are shown in a glossy montage during "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", and they later appear during the final scene.
