- Ability over Appearance: There is little resemblance between the novel's version of Fr Saenz and the film version as portrayed by veteran actor Nonie Buencamino. The former is described as a tall man with long grey "rockstar" hair and a laid-back style, whilst the latter is a more conventional-looking, not so tall and with short hair, but the producers decided on Buencamino due to his experience both in theatre and on screen; he has also worked with Sid Lucero (Fr Lucero's actor) several times previously.
- The Danza: By coincidence: Fr Jerome Lucero is played by Sid Lucero.
