• Franchise Killer: Through no fault of the games themselves, the franchise was effectively ended after the failure of Need for Speed: The Run led to the downsizing and eventual closure of EA Black Box's doors. It took a full decade after Skate 3's release for a new Skate title to be announced as being under development.
• Refitted for Sequel: There were features designed for the first Skate game that were axed and saved for later installments. For example, the option to play as a gal would debut in Skate It the following year and the ability to dismount and walk on foot wouldn't be available until Skate 2.
