• Creator Backlash:
  • While Monte Hellman maintained in his later years that he was proud that the film got produced at all under the circumstances, he did tacitly admit that the end product wasn't especially good.
  • Steven Gaydos, one of the writers who uncreditedly helped put the screenplay together, derided it as being "as disreputable a gig as one could imagine", and didn't think the idea of a killer Santa was something that should have been stretched to a third film.
• Money, Dear Boy:
  • The reason why Monte Hellman agreed to direct Better Watch Out! — he had suffered a serious illness after shooting his previous film, and needed some money to pay his medical bills.
  • Coincidentally, medical bills were also why Bill Moseley agreed to act in the film; his girlfriend had just given birth to their daughter, and the paycheck he got from this was enough to clear what they owed the hospital.
• The Other Darrin:
  • Lieutenant Connelly is apparently supposed to be the unnamed lieutenant who shot Ricky down at the end of Part 2, despite looking and sounding nothing like the guy.
  • Bill Moseley becomes the third main actor — after Alex Burton in the first film, and Eric Freeman in the second (not counting the copious amounts of Timeshifted Actors in those films) — to play Ricky.
