- Follow the Leader: RJ may not necessarily be the first person to try and make Pokemon look alive, but he's certainly the most prolific. As a result, whenever someone else makes realistic Pokemon art, you can easily be assured that he was the one who got them into it.
- He Also Did: RJ is also a concept artist for the video game Saurian.
- Promoted Fanboy: RJ became a character designer for Pokémon Detective Pikachu. However, the majority of his design work did not make it into the finished movie— his biggest contribution was the giant Torterra.
- What Could Have Been:
- The books RJ made and distributed reveal that he had other ideas that never made it into the pics. Most notably, he was going to include Butterfree and Doduo at one point and the Gengar line was originally going to be a group of amphibians instead of bats.
- In the speedpainting video for the Feraligatr line
, one can see he had intended to include Doduo and Barboach in the picture.
