• Inspiration for the Work:
  • The author found the Double Standards of the Nihilego Arc very aggravating — Lusamine is bashed by Gladion for not being aware of what was going on with Lillie but Gladion is shown to be in the right even though he knew all along and could've told her about it — and thus set out to write this story as a way of deconstructing how the anime depicted Gladion and his actions.
  • A reply to a reader's comment states that the flower scene with Gladion and Lillie was based off Only Flowers Fall when Lillie gives cyclamen (which symbolizes farewells) to her mother after deciding not to be too aggressive with orange lilies.
• Refitted for Sequel: Or prequel, in the case. In Infinity Train: Blossoming Trail, the author wanted to implement a scene of Chloe winning a race but couldn't find time for it. Instead, she placed the Desert Racetrack Car in Knight of the Orange Lily to help tie in the fact that Mad Ben will be playing a role in Infinity Train: Voyage of Wisteria.
• Throw It In!: The bonus story in The Toy Car Pt 3 was added because the author found the chapter to be too short and wanted to make a happy ending for Sly Cooper.
• What Could Have Been: The original VRAINS representative was going to be Yusaku Fujiki and it would've taken place after the end of his duel with Ai and the three months before he returned. Both Yusaku and Ai would reveal to be on the train in Infinity Train: Court of Cyclamen.
