• Approval of God: The devs have seen a video from the famous Jonathan Ferguson^note Keeper of Firearms and Artillery of the Royal Armouries Museum in the UK, home to thousands of iconic weapons throughout history. and were quite happy from the critiques given and even used them to work on certain animations involving their firearms and the inaccuracies they've had.
• Cameo Prop: In the Lawson Delta Map the Delorian and mode train from Back to the Future Part III can be found in one of the abandoned barns.
• Dueling Works: Hunt Showdown is frequently compared to Escape from Tarkov, due to the similarities in their core gameplay which otherwise is fairly unique and not seen in other multiplayer shooters.
• Dummied Out: There are several planned items and features that can be found on the Official Website and in the official lore that were eventually dropped from the game. This includes a combination wire cutter, claw-hammer, lock pick; and a deck of tarot cards called the true deck.
• Meme Acknowledgment: One of the Legendary Silenced Nagant Revolvers is named the Mosquito, a clear shout out to The Mosquito Gang Loadout where a player takes two pairs of Silenced Negants. A name coined by the Twitch Streamer Psychoghost Gaming.
• Reality Subtext: The Louisiana Incident is often described as a plague outbreak, and as far as the outside world knows that’s all there is to it. In the new lore introduced after the Corona Virus Pandemic it is revealed that the reason why the Louisiana Incident was so severe is because the AHA was negligent in its handling of the incident in the early stage and failed to take the necessary aggressive action to contain it.
• Streisand Effect: After the name for the fourth boss was accidentally leaked on the test server the moderators for the official Hunt: Showdown Discord attempted to suppress the leaks by automatically removing all mentions of the name “Scrapbeak” confirming that the leaked name was in fact the name of the new boss.
