Trivia / Frank Herbert's Dune

Go To

  • Dawson Casting: 26-year-old Alec Newman plays Paul Atreides, starting when Paul is only 18 years old in part one of a three-part miniseries. Even with the three-year time jump between parts two and three, he's substantially older than Paul is. A general consensus among many reviewers was that Paul comes off as too petulant in part one - because he's supposed to be acting like an angsty teenager, but he's played by an actor a full decade older than that.
  • Multiple Languages, Same Voice Actor: Giancarlo Giannini played Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV in English and Italian.
  • Promoted Fanboy: William Hurt admitted in the making of documentary that he was a fan of the books and initiallly would have loved to have appeared in Dune (1984), but was glad he didn't after seeing how it turned out.
  • What Could Have Been: Alice Krige was offered the role of Lady Jessica, but wasn't available. She did play the role in Frank Herbert's Children of Dune.
