  • Author's Saving Throw: The Updated Re-release is divisive with its controversial decisions, especially concerning multiplayer, but it does contain some definite improvements:
    • Mog can still get tired when playing solo, but now they do in a much more infrequent rate.
    • Even with all of its issues, not having to get four Game Boy Advances and four cables already makes the multiplayer vastly better in the eyes of many gamers.
    • The addition of more voice acting helps add life to the originally quiet cutscenes.
    • The addition of the Storage Moogle is a godsend, making the originally cumbersome and tedious inventory management in the game streamlined and simple. You can also, if you have multiple characters in your caravan, get them advanced armor and weapons early so they can hop right into the second and third cycles to get them up to speed quicker.
    • The ability to accumulate items like a traditional Final Fantasy storage list, as opposed to a finite inventory, makes food more useful and removes the strain of having to throw out various scrolls, items, and equipment.
    • Sigils that indicate a spell being cast are now shown in the spell markers, as well as a spell timer appearing for spell fusions, showing when players need to cast their spells to power up the spell fusion — two extremely handy things for a multiplayer experience where the other players can't see or hear you.
    • Despite the controversy of the multiplayer decisions, one great thing about it is that you can potentially play earlier cycles with other players, which helps develop lower-leveled/weaker characters when your main game has progressed well into the second cycle and beyond with other characters, averting Can't Catch Up with the newer members of your caravan.
  • Release Date Change: Remastered Edition was originally announced with a 2019 release year, before given a January 23, 2020 release date. Then the release was delayed again to August 27, 2020.
