- Acting for Two: Seeing as how both Haru and Rin are voiced by SparkyTheAndroid, while Octopimp voices Makoto, Nagisa and Rei, most of the series is made of this trope.

- Bonus 14 shows Octopimp cracking up every time he tries to deliver the "fart-smeller, fart-smeller" line. On the fourth occasion, he manages to get through it, then cracks up: "I did it!"
- Bonus 16 reveals that Rin's voice actor cracked up after delivering the "Suck my shark dick!" line.
- Meme Acknowledgment: The Funimation announcement of Nagisa's dub VA
referred to him as "the cute, hilarious, definitely-not-a-thug Nagisa Hazuki". - Promoted Fanboy: Both creators eventually went on to voice characters in the Funimation dub of the second season, Eternal Summer.
- Orphaned Series: The series stopped updating after Episode 19, although Sparky and Octopimp did promise to at least finish Iwatobi Swim Club. After over two years, however, Octopimp announced that both 50% OFF and Yaoi!!! On the Rocks were cancelled because it wasn't financially feasible to continue them.
- Word of God: It was speculated that the "Demonic Haru" effect seen in episode 10 was created In-Universe by having every Haru speak at once. This theory was eventually confirmed by SparkyTheAndroid, the show's writer.
