- Cast the Runner-Up: Sherilyn Fenn was originally considered for the role of Lola. She opted for the role of Laura and suggested that Carl Reiner cast Sean Young as Lola.
- Deleted Role: A scene was filmed with Dudley Moore appearing in drag as Max Shady's mother, testifying at Lana's trial. Although the scene was cut from the movie, it is included on the DVD release.
- Direct to Video: This went straight to video in the UK after a disastrous marketing campaign led to a shortened run at the US box office.
- Keep Circulating the Tapes: The blu-ray replaces several songs from the theatrical cut, most notably Iron Butterfly's "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida," which Ned and Lola talk about as they are listening to it (replaced by some generic rock background music). The DVD version had the original songs.
