  • Dueling Works: The show's fourth season faced off with Caronte, another Spanish police TV series with some involvement of Roberto Álamo, though this time a gritty realistic thriller instead of a light fantasy series. Ironically, the duel ended without any clear winner; Estoy Vivo plummeted in popularity and finished with half of its previous season's ratings, while Caronte rivaled it at first but quickly fell even lower, and both series have been proposed for cancellation.
  • Follow the Leader: The creators seemingly wrote Season 4 after having learned all the wrong lessons from the various rebootquels of established franchises in the last years, in particular Disney's Star Wars trilogy and Terminator: Dark Fate. It checks most of their points: removing or pushing away beloved characters, focusing on new young characters with little likable value, bringing unoriginal plots based around the trope of La RĂ©sistance, and generally feeling rushed and uninspired.
  • Reality Subtext: The opening song, "Humo" by pop rock band Jarabe de Palo, was not chosen at random. The band's leader Pau Donés wrote it after he was informed to have colorectal cancer, and it can be noted in its melancholic lyrics, which talk about how his time is coming and his life is uncertain. Donés died in 2020, half a year after the end of the series' third season.
  • What Could Have Been: The series was originally going to be named El Renacido ("The Reborn One") and was initially advertised as such, but it was changed to Estoy Vivo ("I'm Alive") shortly before its release.
