- Billing Displacement: Ossie Davis is credited second to Eddie Murphy, despite having a small role as John's elderly dad. This was likely done out of respect to the legendary actor/activist. Going by screen time and overall importance to the film, second billing should’ve gone to Norm Macdonald (the voice of Lucky).
- The Danza: Sort of. In the Japanese dub of the fourth film, Maya Dolittle is voiced by Maaya Sakamoto in the TV dub.
- Enforced Method Acting: Eddie Murphy is terrified of live animals, and insisted that as many as possible be superimposed digitally in both movies. Several takes in which he had to be in the same room as an animal apparently ended with him screaming.
