- Acting for Two: Some productions cast the same singer as Dido and the evil Sorceress, since the two never share scenes. Given that the Sorceress' curse on the titular lovers mirrors the vengeful Dying Curse invoked by the original Dido of the Aenead, in contrast to the quiet dignity with which Tate/Purcell's Dido meets her fate, this casting choice possibly carries the connotation of a Decomposite Character or of the Sorceress being Dido's Evil Counterpart.
