Trivia / Crash Team Rumble

Go To

  • Ascended Fan Nickname: The Gasmoxian Guard got the nickname "Greg" through several fan streamers of the game. Toys For Bob themselves referred to the character as such in their blogs afterwards.
  • End of an Era: This was Toys for Bob's last game as the lead developer of a game under Activision Blizzard before they split from the company and went independent.
  • Invisible Advertising: Unlike the previous games in the series published by Activision, Rumble had little to no advertising, aside from some YouTube videos showcasing the stages, previews from gaming websites and posts from the official social media accounts on Twitter. This became subverted post-launch with the advent of free trial events and even a Mcdonald's Happy Meal promotion, oddly six months after the game released.
  • Queer Character, Queer Actor: The nonbinary Catbat is voiced by the pansexual and genderfluid Erika Ishii.
  • Refitted for Sequel:
    • Ripto was supposed to be a playable character in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, though updates for the game ended before this could occur. He becomes playable in a Crash game with Season 2 of this game.
    • A datamine for Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time revealed that Cortex, Dingodile and the alternate Tawna were all seemingly going to get unlockable skins like Crash and Coco at some point in development, but this ultimately went nowhere. Come this game, some of those datamined skins would become unlockable through varying means, such as the battle pass and seasonal events.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The game was once planned to be a free-to-play multiplayer game and meant as a companion title to Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time.
    • The original storyboard for the opening FMV used the original male N Tropy instead of the alternate universe female one, implying he was initially going to be of the eight playables in the base roster instead.
    • According to its development roadmap, the game was planned to launch in 2021 with 16 characters and 12 maps as its base content.
    • Early prototypes of the game (when it was still named "Wumpa League") featured much larger maps, to the point the characters were equipped with utilities like parachutes to make mobility easier.
    • Announcer soundbytes for Nina Cortex, Tiny Tiger, and Pinstripe Potoroo were discovered in a datamine, implying that had support continued, they would have been added to the game.
  • Working Title: Lava and Wumpa League.
