Trivia / Bone Chillers

Go To

  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Only 6 of the 13 TV episodes were released on VHS and there are currently none on DVD.
  • Market-Based Title: The U.K. release of the series was changed from Bone Chillers to Bonechillers (one word instead of two), while a few books were given new titles:
    • Beware the Shopping Mall was changed to The Shopping Spree.
    • Frankenturkey was changed to Gobble-de-Spook.
    • Frankenturkey II was changed to The Return of Gobble-de-Spook.
  • No Export for You: There was a 24th entry called Here Comes Sandy Claws that was only released in France for unknown reasons.
  • Recursive Adaptation: One of the TV episodes, Romeo and Ghoulette was adapted into the final entry in the book series.
  • Recycled Script:
    • Strange Brew and Scare Bear share quite a few similarities. An element from the protagonist's childhood which has been long-forgotten (imaginary friend, childhood teddy bear) gains a life of its own and intends to return to its companion's life, whether the protagonist wants it or not. Things work out smoothly at first and the protagonist is overjoyed that the imaginary friend / toy is changing life for the better, but then things go wrong when the returning childhood element turns out to be evil — eventually the protagonist is forced to destroy the thing from their past to protect their new friends.
    • Toilet Terror and The Thing Under the Bed both use the same premise of a mysterious, elongated monster (mutated goldfish creature, giant worm) sprouting in the protagonists' house (respectively the toilet and bedroom) and start stalking the protagonists, and any attempts to warn the parents results in numerous Cassandra Truth moments. The protagonists are forced to face the creature hiding in their house personally; after some close shaves the monster finally reveals itself and goes on a rampage, conveniently as the parents are out and the protagonists are all alone. They eventually defeat the monster with unconventional methods (hair dryer, kitchen sink) only to result in the house becoming a colossal mess they need to clean up. And after everything is over, the story ends with a haunting Here We Go Again! with revelation of new monsters.
  • Uncredited Role: Why I Quit The Babysitter's Club is credited to David Bergantino but according to him, it is miscredited and he did not write it. Thus, the actual author remains unknown and was not credited.
    • Same goes for the author of Here Comes Sandy Claws. It is credited to Gene Hault but he says he did not write it.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • There was going to be a 25th book in the series called Open Wide involving an evil dentist and a kid receiving a filling that magnetized shadows. The book was supposedly completed alongside cover art by Tim Jacobus, but was never released.
    • In 2001, after Daniel Weiss Associates became Alloy Entertainment, a series called Fright Club was going to be released. Of the seven books advertised, two of them would've been rereleases of Toilet Terror and Here Comes Sandy Claws (as I Know What You Flushed Last Summer and Revenge of the Claw respectively) alongside the official release of Open Wide. For some reason Fright Club was never officially distributed.
      • One of the other books, Poodlesaurus, was apparently an attempt to edit and re-release Why I Quit The Baby-Sitters Club. Both were about kids being tricked into looking after a mutated zombie dog creature. What confirmed the connection is the dog monster in the Bone Chillers edition is referred to as "Precious one," while the dog in Poodlesaurus is explicitly named "Precious."
