Trivia / Blackbird (2018)

Go To

  • Copiously Credited Creator: Michael Flatley serves as star, writer, director and producer, and also self-financed the project via his company Dance Lord Pictures.
  • The Danza: Surely it's just coincidence that "Victor Blackley" sounds like "Michael Flatley".
  • Not Screened for Critics: The film first came onto people's radars when, at its debut at the 2018 Raindance Film Festival, critics were suddenly disinvited from the screening just hours before it was due to begin.
  • The Shelf of Movie Languishment: The film was finished in 2018 and was screened at that year's Raindance Film Festival in London, before vanishing from the public. It was the mystery around its disappearance that gave the film its initial buzz among So Bad, It's Good film fans, particularly since critics and journalists were abruptly disinvited from that screening hours beforehand. It made its second appearance at the 2021 Monaco Streaming Film Festival where Michael Flatley won Best Actor despite the film apparently not even streaming at the event, which just further added to the confusion among people trying to track the film down. The film ultimately got its proper release in 2022 after being picked up by Wildcard Distribution for a limited release in Ireland and the UK.
