Trivia / Band Of Brothers S 1 E 8 The Last Patrol

• Anachronic Order: As far as filming goes. Most of the episodes were shot in sequence, but this was the final episode shot - aside from a few scenes in Switzerland for Episode 10.
• Deleted Scene: Craig Heaney revealed that they did film the real-life incident where the soldiers threw grenades at the German by the river to Mercy Kill him, but it was left on the cutting room floor.
• Meta Casting: Lt Jones is an Ensign Newbie who desires to see combat, but is resented by the rest of the men - especially since he arrives already a Lieutenant with no combat experience. However he quickly earns the respect of the men. His actor Colin Hanks is the son of one of the producers, and faced accusations of nepotism - only to impress everyone with his performance.
• Reality Subtext: Malarkey was down in the script to go on the patrol. However Scott Grimes ran this by the real guy, who insisted he wasn't on it. So the story becomes Malarkey being given a chance to rest, while someone else goes on the patrol in his stead.
