• Beam Me Up, Scotty!: Shane Taylor is often asked to say "I need scissors". Eugene doesn't say those exact words in the episode – merely spending a good amount of time looking for scissors and asking a couple of the men if they have them.
• Fake Nationality: Lucie Jeanne is French playing the Belgian nurse Renee. As Bastogne is in the French-speaking region of Belgium, this is a marginal example.
• Real Life Writes the Plot: Stephen Ambrose had known very little about Renee Lemaire when writing the book, and she's only given a passing mention in the acknowledgments. After discovering her interesting backstory – she was a Bastogne native who had relocated to Brussels, and was simply visiting her parents when the battle struck, later evacuating six people from the burning church - they featured her as a character, employing a little Artistic Licence – History (as Renee had been at a different aid station to Eugene Roe).
• What Could Have Been: A scene was filmed where Eugene finds a stray gun and pockets it. But they cut it to keep the character pure.
