Trivia / Baby Peggy

Go To

  • Enforced Method Acting: In The Darling Of New York, Peggy had to rely on her instincts and at the same time keep character when an interior set was torched during production. It didn't help that she couldn't pass through the door as planned, as the knob was "already too hot to touch" after crew members mistakenly set that part ablaze. The director was royally ticked off at Peggy disobeying orders, but given the circumstance, she only did what she could to save both the picture and her skin as well.
  • The Danza: In some of her films, like Peg o' the Mounted and in the feature film The Family Secret, the latter of which she played the role of Peggy Holmes.
  • The Merch: She was one of the first actors to have spawned a line of clothes, toys and other such products in her likeness.
  • Missing Episode: Most of her short films were lost to history, no thanks to a fire that razed Century Studios (and the fact that film stock of that time is very volatile, not to mention that studios of the day didn't see films as worth preserving and would rather burn them on purpose to recycle their silver content, similar to later wiping operations by the BBC due to budget constraints). There are some efforts at tracking down and restoring some of them — copies of Carmen Jr. with foreign intertitles were found in overseas archives, for example.
  • No Stunt Double: Shockingly true especially for a toddler like her. Nowadays Child Protection Services could've put a stop to Peggy's career and had her parents jailed just for that.
  • No Port For You:
    • Undercrank Productions' recent release of a restored version of The Family Secret is only on DVD, and that's in spite of the Library of Congress bringing up the film's quality to par with Charlie Chaplin re-issues.
    • Also true with the documentary about her career entitled The Elephant in the Room. By the time of its release in 2012, surely an HD release isn't out of the question given the film's 16:9 aspect ratio.
