  • B-Team Sequel: While Adams reportedly intended to write a sixth Hitchhiker's book before his untimely death, what few notes he left on the matter were not used in And Another Thing..., instead packaged together with a half-finished Dirk Gently manuscript and some other random scraps and published as The Salmon of Doubt.
  • Creator's Favorite: Wowbagger the Infinitely Prolonged seems to be Eoin Colfer's.
  • Outlived Its Creator: It's the first book in the series following Adams' passing, instead written by Eoin Colfer.
  • Promoted Fanboy: Eoin Colfer said that being asked to write a Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy novel was like 'being offered the superpower of your choice'.
  • Working Title: Douglas Adams wanted to write a sixth novel called The Salmon Of Doubt, but had also thought about using the title for a third Dirk Gently novel. They ended up using the name for an incomplete Dirk Gently book published after Adams died.
  • Write Who You Know: Colfer, who is Irish, creates the first Irish character to appear in the Hitchhiker's series.
