- Shakugan being turned into stone.
- Jinka's fall into madness upon becoming the 1000-tailed beast.
- Douren and Jinun suffered fatal injuries in their fight against one another. They only live long enough to transfer their powers over to Senya.
- Senya, Mudo, and the Drunken Monkeys all weep over their death once the fighting is done.
- Senya's guilt over what he did to Tsukiko's father drives him to run away from happiness out of fear of being a monster. His Battle in the Center of the Mind has happiness and friends being something utterly painful to him. It's basically saying he can save everyone else but himself.
- The second-to-last chapter. Tsukiko, Shinsuke, and all the other human characters die of old age. After all, the average lifespan of a human in that era was about 50 years, and someone like Senya gained at least a thousand years of lifespan as a god.
- This especially hits hard with Tsukiko, who enjoys her happy last moments of life in Senya's arms — and then you see him shaking and sobbing silently as their family surround them in a panic about her passing away so suddenly, still not letting her go. Even 200 years later, he never settled down again, not even with Setsu.
