  • Esoteric Happy Ending: While Senya seems to be at peace Walking the Earth, all of the immortal characters left are less than enthusiastic about it. Mudo, Setsu and Jinka all chastise Senya for his increasing inability to form long lasting bonds or settle down, something Senya constantly denied in the past because of his dangerous potential and seemingly did away with once he married Tsukiko. Senya also developed a habit of coming up to the mountains to face extreme weather, something he does to experience the harshness and negative thoughts he used to have when he was developing and can easily read as a less obvious version of Self-Harm. Not to mention that every mortal he seriously loved— his father, his wife, all of his children, and Shinsuke— is dead by the time the story ends.
  • Funny Moments:
    • When Senya tries to leave everyone behind, Shinsuke has Hanatora grab him with vines and knock him out with sleeping powder.
    • During the Training Montage for Senya and Tsukiko, the pair try to get used to dragging boulders while they run. Slowly but surely over the years, some of the onlookers added their weight to their training: first Hanatora, then Shinsuke and Nau, then Zanzou.
  • Moral Event Horizon: When Resshin stabs Shakuyaku.
  • More Popular Replacement: Western fans were lukewarm to neutral about Jinka during his time as the protagonist, finding his motivation too simple as the driving force in a story. They were much more receptive to Senya, seeing his journey and development an improvement over the first Part's.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Whenever the Mountain God gets serious.
