Despite being a Wuxia novel, it contains a lot of sad scenes that would push audiences to the brink of bawling their eyes out...
- The beginning of the novel revealed how Yang Guo lost his mother at a young age (which also didn't help when considering the fact that his father, the main antagonist of the previous novel, ended up getting killed) and was ostracized by his community as a result of his late father's sins. He grew up so lonely that the only people who ever accepted him in his life are Xiaolongnü, Guo Jing, and Grandmother Sun.
- Lu Zhan Yuan scorning Li Mo Chou wasn't that great either. Because of his actions, this only caused Li MoChou to become the monster that she is in the novel.
- The moment that Xiaolongnü gets poisoned as a result of a spell gone wrong. Not only did this scar her for the rest of the novel, but at the same, this also meant that she would puke blood whenever she gets angry or stressed out.
- Many moments in which Yang Guo and Xiaolongnu are separated. However, the one that really hits the most is the final separation in which they could not be together for 16 DAMN YEARS. It really makes readers wonder how much pain Yang Guo is in when he couldn't be able to be with his master for the rest of his life.
- The deaths of Ouyang Feng and Hong Qigong. After being enemies during the first novel, they finally became best buddies before passing away peacefully on Mount Hua. No wonder Yang Guo shed so much tears for them...
- The moment Yang Guo mistakenly believes that [[You Killed My Father: Guo Jing killed his father]] after Sha Gu accidentally claims that the 'killer' of Yang Kang called her husband by 'Brother Jing'. This sets him on a vengeful path to murder the Guo couple only to stop after eventually realizing the truth behind his father's death. This does not stop him from experiencing his conflicting loyalty though...
- The moment Yang Guo loses his arm, not only does he lose a lot of blood, but at the same time, he lost all martial arts skills he once had when he had both arms.
- What doesn't help the fact is the idea that losing an arm would make one's life even harder...
