Out of all the Phoenix Wright games (official or fan-made), Conflict of Interest is filled to the brim with these.
- EVERYTHING relating to Pearl and her kidnapping. First off, she is revealed to be kidnapped in the first few cases and is the center of Maya's motivation, to the point where she puts together an entire family reunion just to draw her back. It actually works, and in case 4 they are reunited for a small bit. However, Maya is shot by a sniper into critical condition, and she acts as Phoenix's assistant for the case because of this. As the case goes on, we discover her full tragic backstory.
- Pearl was deeply traumatized by the events of Justice for All and Trials and Tribulations, ending up suicidal as a result. She fakes her own kidnapping with the help of the mafia, leaving Phoenix convinced it was his fault and Maya in mourning. Pearl tries to commit suicide, but ends up failing and hospitalized for the years she was gone. At the reunion, she's the person who shot Maya simply because she felt like it was her destiny to do so, all because of Morgan's murderous plot. It's so bad that, if you actually convict her, Obadiah will state that she will have the lightest sentence the state can afford, and therapy as well. She also gets a somber remix of her theme, which plays over the credits.
