  • Chiaki's entire predicament, while a fairly standard isekai setup, is played very realistically. She inexplicably falls headfirst into the school gate, and wakes up in a world far away from her own. The revelation causes her to break down in tears, as she's faced with the possibility of never seeing her family and Fumiko again. It's only because of the help of Redge and Nara that Chiaki is able to have some footing in this new reality.
  • Nagisa turns out to be the child that Kaminari saved, but her wings were hurt in the process, so she can't fly with them.
  • Belial's backstory in chapter 2. She was once a Spirit-aligned priestess-in-training who wanted to help people. Then a demon attacked her and carved its name into her body, corrupting her into what she is now. Corruption in this story results in people-turned-demons being not only unable to use magic, they can't even answer to their original name, as doing so will literally kill them. Based on some of Belial's comments when talking to Keegan, it's implied her family's view of her changed after she was corrupted against her will and she basically lost everything, even her dreams, ability to use magic, and original livelihood. If you want to go into Fridge Horror territory, Belial's current name means "worthless" in Hebrew, and was once used as a name for Satan.
  • Jude turns out to have a cursed choker stuck on them that causes them to painfully turn female in the morning and then back to male at night. Said transformation is incredibly painful, and they seem resigned to the idea that this pain will probably kill them eventually.
