Northern Lights is a private Discord play-by-post of Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden, taking place in the Vietnamese-Chinese universe of Tianxia. The party is sent to Icewind Dale to investigate as part of their training as young nobles in the Imperial Academy.

Northern Lights contains these tropes:
- Alliterative Name: Vesi Vallanohr, the party's bard.
- Happily Adopted: Quyen was found abandoned and taken in. She was actually rescued from her birth mother, who tried to use her as a sacrifice.
- Hero of Another Story: Prior to this campaign, Ji and Quyen were on a mission together with Elilhane Silverbranch and Kōnane Ching. The latter two disappeared without a trace as the four were on their way to Shenglong, leaving their Fire-Forged Friends to wonder what became of them. They were actually whisked to Lillefort.
- Put on a Bus: Ji has to go back home urgently because his grandmother has fallen ill and because his player needed a break. However, it manages to perfectly play into the fortunes Quyen received at the spring fair about things breaking and friends leaving her (which was written before the player took the break).
