Future of Despair: The Adult Life of Mutual Killing
is a Danganronpa roleplay on fanfiction.net. Fourteen (technically sixteen, but two participants were never active in the roleplay) alumni of Hope's Peak Academy find themselves trapped in an underground bunker and forced into a game of life or death.
The roleplay is over, and no sequel is planned.
Future of Despair contains examples of:
- Ax-Crazy: Maho often attacks other characters for little to no reason.
- Chekhov's Gun: Judith's pinky, removed between the second and third cases, is instrumental in proving that she's one of the Masterminds.
- Insufferable Genius: Hiro
- Dying Declaration of Love: Hiro delivers one to Judith before killing both of them with a single shot.
- We Hardly Knew Ye: The inactive characters, Arata and Shizuka, and to a lesser extent Hiro. Shu Kazehaya as well, since he only appeared in the prologue before being killed off.
- Real Life Writes the Plot: Hiro's player was busy with school and other roleplays, so Hiro just vanished. However, this is explained away by him being the mastermind and piloting Monokuma.
