Recap / Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS Ep 52 Hero In Name Only

Go To

Soulburner manages to survive a brutal attack from GO's Dinowrestler monsters, using the effects of his Salamangreat monsters. Determined not to lose against GO, who wants to prove himself to be the strongest Duelist, Soulburner sets his fist ablaze, and starts a counterattack!

This episode contains the following tropes:

  • Captain Obvious: GO's AI informs him that World Dino Wrestling's Effect has ended after a battle was conducted between King T Wrextle and Jack Jaguar.
  • Conveniently an Orphan: As revealed in a flashback, Takeru's parents died searching for him during the Lost Incident/Hanoi Project, much to his and his grandparents' devastation.
  • Dirty Coward: Hayami has no problem bombarding Soulburner with explosives via her tablet, all to prevent Akira from being demoted for failing to capture Flame. GO calls out on SOL for their underhandedness, and blocks a hit for Soulburner and gets out unharmed.
  • Everyone Has Standards: GO may be a merciless Bounty Hunter, but he won't stoop so low as to assault his opponent with an unexpected attack.
  • Sore Loser: GO doesn't throw a hissy fit after losing to Soulburner; however, he declines to be helped up by Soulburner, rants about the psychological consequences of losing, and concludes that one's true self is revealed upon their defeat. Lampshaded by Flame.
Flame: He must lose a lot to be such a sore loser.
  • Tender Tears: Hayami bursts into tears after her tablet is confiscated by Akira, and admits to him that she attacked Soulburner out of fear that Akira would get demoted if SOL fails to capture Flame.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Both GO and Akira make it clear to Hayami she is never to try to interfere in a duel again.
