While the rest of the world think they are safe, Scotty and Arnold drive the president and his young mistress to Mount Genesis.
Celine, no longer a nun, meets with the cardinals and arranges for father Jude to be buried in Slough. She moves in with Jamie, Paula, Dave, Hawkwind and Frankie. To get away from their chaotic household, Jamie and Hawkwind decide to spend a week in a honeymoon suite at a hotel in Windsor, one town away from Slough (as Jamie reminds Hawkwind, she went missing the last time they traveled together) with Frankie. While Hawkwind and Frankie pack up, Jamie stays for Jude's funeral.
In Virginia, Rhonda is brought before a military tribunal.

After showing the bunker to the president, Arnold shoots him in the head and kicks his girlfriend out.
At Jude's funeral, Mrs Sutton hastily leaves when she sees Jamie enter, and tells him off.
The military tribunal wasted no time pronouncing a death penalty for Rhonda. She receives her death row uniform, and moments after putting it on, she witnesses the arrival of a new cellmate: none other than her old friend Leanne.

After the funeral, Jamie, Dave, Paula and Celine organize a wake of sorts at a pub.
Scotty and Arnold then explain their purpose of recreating a new society in a new world to the group of women selected for Mount Genesis. They seal the door of the bunker and leave.
Mrs Sutton returns to her manor and finds Ariel waiting for her. After she realizes the brothers are twins, Ariel blackmails her into financing his life, unless she, having faked her death to escape serious legal troubles, wants to be exposed. Sutton agrees, but promises Ariel she will have him killed next time they meet, and Ariel gladly leaves.
Arnold publishes a video in which he reveals to the world that Operation Saviour has indeed failed and people on Earth have less than a day to live, which is immediately picked up by news stations all around the world. As all Hell breaks loose on Earth once again, telecommunications are shut down.

Jamie sets out to find Frankie and Hawkwind, but gets intercepted first by Sutton and Molby who want to take him to the bunker, then by the desperate Ariel who kills Molby.
Celine gets drunk after the end of the world is announced, and sees God speaking to her under the appearance of an old woman, who tells her Jude is in heaven.Leanne tells Rhonda her family gave her up, and their betrayal shook all her beliefs. Meanwhile,back at their apartment, Scotty and Arnold are welcomed by Spike, Rajesh, and Larsson who tells Scotty she works for his mother, and presents proof. He refuses to be saved after what he has done, but he and Arnold agree to at least save Rhonda and get her to the bunker after Spike pleads them to.

Jamie wakes up locked up in a vault in his bank, courtesy of Ariel who takes his clothes and sets out to take his place, first by his wife's side, then in the bunker. Having gone through their respective bucket lists, Dave and Paula decide to get married. They announce the news to Ariel, whom they believe to be Jamie.
Arnold and Scotty put on their uniforms and go to the military base, but the soldier guarding Rhonda and Leanne refuses to let them both out. A shootout ensues and Scotty gets wounded.

Celine puts her monastic clothes back on, and resigns herself to her fate, impatient to meet Jude again.
Locked in the bank vault, Jamie struggles to get out to no avail, while Ariel reaches Hawkwind and Frankie in Windsor, posing as his brother.
The You, Me and the Apocalypse episode "Calm Before the Storm - 24 Hours to Go" provides examples of:
