Recap / You Me And The Apocalypse S 1 E 8 Saviour Day 7 Days To Go

Go To

While Operation Saviour's results are being confirmed, Jamie and Layla devise a plan to save Frankie from Ariel, Father Jude and Sister Celine face tough choices, and Rhonda is put before a military tribunal.

The success of Operation Saviour is about to be decided. Mission control are busy with calculations to find out whether the operation is a success.

In England, Jamie and Hawkwind look all over town for Frankie without much success until Ariel contacts them. Under advice from Hawkwind, Jamie pretends he has gone crazy and is holding Hawkwind hostage, and demands Ariel to exchange Hawkwind for Frankie on the parking lot where he was abandoned as a baby. Once both brothers arrive on the scene, Ariel lays a trap for Jamie in hopes of getting away with both Hawkwind and Frankie, but Frankie unexpectedly saves the day.

In the Vatican, both Father Jude and Sister Celine struggle to choose between their love and their mission, but agree their work is more important. As Celine gets upset and goes back to the convent, Jude meets with the cardinals and realizes they don't work for the truth when they suggest that since there is no confirmed messiah for the Apocalypse, they should take the best candidate so far and present them as the second coming of Christ, just to keep the faithful in line. Disgusted, Jude calls them the Antichrist, takes off his collar and leaves, but not before telling them off one last time when they suggest their discussion should remain confidential.

Rhonda meets with her lawyer on a military base in Virginia, and learns that because the state of emergency put in place because of the comet's impending strike, justice is now served by military tribunals and her chances of getting away with anything less than a death penalty are slim to none.

The Saviour scientists are done with their calculations. Operation Saviour has failed: the spacecraft has diverted the comet, but not enough to avoid a collision. The army immediately locks up the scientists involved with it, and TV stations start reporting on the operation's success.

Everyone around the world, except for the scientists, as well as Scotty and Arnold, celebrates. Jude visits Celine's convent, happy with the future he has in mind for him and his new wife, and while he doesn't get to meet her, his message is passed on, and Celine leaves. When she enters Jude's office, she finds him hanging on a noose, dead.

The You, Me and the Apocalypse episode "Saviour Day... - 7 Days to Go" provides examples of:

  • Dead Guy on Display: Father Jude.
  • Foregone Conclusion: If the opening titles and the theme of the show aren't clear enough, there was no way for Operation Saviour to succeed.
  • Foreshadowing: Yet another occupant of the bunker is revealed: Arnold, standing with a hacksaw in hand.
