But now am fine with that."
But now am fine with that."

Tropes present in Matryoshka include:
- Clap Your Hands If You Believe: Night Vale is saved from the brink of destruction by the citizens of Night Vale acknowledging the weirdness around them instead of denying it.
- Darkest Hour: As Night Vale collapses, Cecil prepares to sign off one last time, "Good-bye, Night Vale, Good-bye", but he comes up with an idea at the last second.
- Invisible to Normals: To most citizens of Night Vale, the previous episode's broadcast was simply heard as a mess of static, but like the other messages from Huntokar, Steve Carslberg was able to hear the whole thing.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Cecil is known for having a very bizarre sense of what makes news important, and alternating between delivering mundane news and warning of apocalyptic catastrophes while maintaining the same serene tone. So we know the situation must be really dire when he passive-aggressively mocks the listeners for expecting him to respond to complaints about subpar radio programs while the town gets destroyed. Later, Cecil feels so hopeless that for the first time in the series, he almost ends the broadcast without bothering to give the Weather report.
- Series Fauxnale: The timeline is reset, peace is restored, and all the loose threads from the first few seasons are resolved. If you were to stop listening here, nobody would fault you.
