Something bothers me about this stuff. It's so out in the open. Everybody's so casual about it.
— Penhall
Hanson and Penhall go undercover at a university after a high-profile basketball athlete dies from a drug overdose. They discover that the university athletes aren't just involved in drug dealing, but also cheat academically; some of them can't even read.
Meanwhile, Captain Fuller's son turns up again—this time as a college student—and Fuller wants to bond with him.
This episode provides examples of:
- Expository Hairstyle Change: Fuller's son Kip reappears after he had previously appeared in season 2 wearing rastas; but now he hasn't got rastas anymore. When he had the rasta dreadlocks he was a hippie, but now he is a preppy college student. Lampshaded by:Fuller: Hey, no more rasta?!Kip: O come on, that was two years ago!
- Never Learned to Read: Turns out some of the athletes who are in university because of their basketball scholarships, can't even read. Fuller addresses this and encourages them to learn to read.
