If this happens to me... would you be there?... Please...
Ronnie

Ronnie Seebok, who was featured in the Season 2 episodes "Besieged (parts 1 and 2)" as a minor criminal, is now on death row. Hanson approaches him with a request to make a video for kids to avoid them going into crime, but Ronnie refuses this. Instead, Ronnie asks Hanson to be present at his execution; Hanson agrees. The episode shows this, but mostly consists of flashbacks showing Ronnie's back story: how he wound up on death row, and his love affair with Rosie. He killed an undercover cop of the Jump Street team, but there wasn't enough evidence to convict him for that. But when his girlfriend Rosie kills a convenience store employee during one of their robberies, circumstantial evidence is enough to convict him for that murder, and that is ultimately what brings him down.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Cop Killer: Ronnie Seebok kills one of the 21 Jump Street officers; there isn't enough evidence to arrest or convict him for this though.
  • Death by Flashback: Features as the protagonist a man who earlier in the series had appeared as a criminal, and by now is in prison and sentenced to the death penalty. Most of the episode shows the story of how he came to be convicted.
  • Death Row: A criminal's last days, and past story, before he gets the death sentence are shown.
  • Non-Indicative Title: A Very Special Episode about a prisoner who gets the death sentence—called "2245". That number doesn't appear anywhere in the episode, and fans have always wondered what its significance is. Theories include Ronnie's prisoner number and declared time of death/execution.
  • Prison Episode: Takes (mostly) place in a prison, where it follows a man convicted to the death penalty.
  • Sequel Episode: Character Ronnie Seebok was previoulsy in the 2-part episode Beseiged in Season 2. This episode shows his (tragic) fate afterwards.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Dary only two months out of the academy and working his first undercover case was told by Hanson to be careful with a drug dealer like Ronnie and don't get pushy and try for a conviction too fast. So what does he do in the next scene? Tries to go immediately for a drug buy and gets intensely pushy despite Ronnie's plea to leave him alone while he's spending time with his girlfriend. Then he pulls a gun on Ronnie after seeing Ronnie's gun tucked away in his belt despite it not being pointed at Dary (because Ronnie was insisting he leave by showing the gun tucked in his pants, as a incentive for Dary to go away and come back later when he isn't busy), yet despite attempting to draw first is still too slow to win the draw and he gets killed. Hanson even correctly assumes that Ronnie may have killed Dary in self defense!
  • Villain Episode: The protagonist is a man convicted for murder, and the episode focuses on his backstory, rather than on Hanson (one of the usual protagonists), who contacts him.
  • Whole Episode Flashback: This episode consists mostly of flashbacks of Ronnie showing his backstory and how he got convicted to the death sentence that he gets at the end of the episode.
