20F - The Last Chance

    Season 2: Ch. 1 (Chapter 80)

The 20th Floor appears as a snowy mountainous area, which the Regulars live on a floating ship that also functions as a city. Here on the ship, it's established as a difficult roadblock where normal Regulars will become classified as E-Rank Regulars after passing the 20th Floor test. In addition, a company called Lurker Cash has been set up providing loans to Regulars that desire to pass the test. One such Regular here trying to complete the 20th Floor test several times has been Ja Wangnan, a blonde-haired man who claims to have been born to become the King of the Tower. However, he's seen failing the test once more after a female Regular on his team using fire shinsu abilities accidentally knocks him out of the test.

Following the test, Wangnan is back in his 20th Floor room nursing his injuries from the last test fail, but is soon greeted by Kim Lurker's group of Lurker Cash. Led by the Lurker Cash assistant manager, Kim Lurker, he threatens Wangnan to pay off the debt he owes; having provided Wangnan money for extra opportunities to pass the 20th Floor. Wangnan's unable to run away, and begs for a chance to repay the debt. Thus, Wangnan's given one last chance to pass the test, but will have to sign Kim's contract where Wangnan will have to donate his organs to Lurker Cash if he loses. Determined to climb the Tower, Wangnan signs the form, and he's loaned the money from Lurker Cash for one last attempt at the 20th Floor test.

After Kim's group leaves, Wangnan is greeted by a noodle delivery boy, Nya Nia. While being provided his noodle meal, Wangnan chats with Nia. The latter of which had to take up the noodle delivery job after it turned out that he couldn't pass the 20th Floor test. In return, Wangnan looks at a special red ring on his finger that has the symbol of King Jahad on it. He points out to Nia how he views the way tests are done on Regulars to be a cruel way to live. Thus, he will change it the day he becomes the King of the Tower. Moved by his words, Nia gives a noodle coupon to him before leaving; claiming that they should celebrate when Wangnan passes the 20th Floor test.

The next day, Wangnan returns to the 20th Floor test, and remains determined to pass knowing that this is his last chance. The test's 1st Round is a 30-minute survival test where fights can occur every 3 minutes, which Wangnan enters the test arena ready to fight whoever he comes across. However, he instead finds himself standing before a powerful looking cloaked boy with long hair, who's already defeated his three other opponents within the arena.

    Season 2: Ch. 2 (Chapter 81)

Instead of choosing to fight the long-haired cloaked boy, Wangnan suggests an alliance with him. However, the cloaked boy ignores Wangnan, and just takes a seat at the side of the room. Wangnan takes a seat with him to also wait out the 30-minute survival test, and tries to chat with the cloaked boy, but gets no answer. A few minutes later, the next Regular enters the arena, which he appears to be a large intimindating man with a blue right wing. Rather than fighting someone who looks so strong, Wangnan also suggests to him that they wait it out. The giant appears to agree as he's next seen calmly sitting with Wangnan and the cloaked boy afterwards.

As the 30-minute time limit for the test continues to drain, two more Regulars enter the test room. Wangnan remains ready to fight, but it turns out that neither of the newcomers want to fight. The two newcomers being a school-girl named Miseng, and a glasses girl named Goseng. The latter of which appears to get along well with Miseng while the giant appears to have a crush on her. Wangnan starts to go insane over the weird situation that has resulted in no one wanting to actually fight, and even makes Miseng cry unable to understand why a little girl is trying to climb the Tower. She answers that she needs to find her parents.

Afterwards, a gray-haired Regular is the next to enter the test arena, which he suggests that they vote two people out of the group to lessen the amount of test rivals. The gray-haired Regular votes to kick out the little girl, Miseng, while Wangnan goes along with it, and votes to kick out gray-haired Regular given that getting rid of a strong looking opponent gives him a better chance to pass the 20th Floor test. However, the voting is interrupted when the long-haired cloaked boy claims that the vote is not necessary since they will all fail to him.

    Season 2: Ch. 3 (Chapter 82)

The gray-haired Regular pulls out his umbrella weapon ready for a fight due to the long-haired cloaked boy's threat. However, the cloaked boy is able to show off his strength by forcing gray-hair to retreat back with a quick attack. Wangnan remains confused as to why the cloaked boy is putting himself in such a horribly disadvantageous position by fighting everyone himself as the one-winged giant steps forward. The giant tries to get the long-haired boy to stand down explaining that they shouldn't waste energy here, but is forced to prepare himself when long-hair states that he's forcing them all to drop out. Thus, the giant's wing takes the form of a fist to show that he's now in combat mode.

An interruption from the gray-haired Regular occurs as he tries to hit them with a blast of shinsu from his umbrella weapon. As a result, a three-way fight goes down between gray-hair, the long-haired boy, and the giant. Wangnan lets the fight play out seeing it as an advantage if his opponents manage to take each other out. During the three-way fight, the gray-haired Regular attempts to hit them with blasts of shinsu while the giant tries to land his punches. In addition, the long-haired boy shows himself off as a powerful Wave Controller, and blasts his two oppoents back.

Goseng then recognizes the FUG symbol on the cloak of the long-haired boy. She warns the group that if someone from the powerful terrorist organization that opposes the Jahad Empire is here on the 20th Floor, then they're all screwed, much to Wangnans worry. Suddenly, a newcomer Regular enters the test at this point. However, the long-haired boy disposes of him easily to show the current group that the FUG member means business.

    Season 2: Ch. 4 (Chapter 83)

The fight in the 1st Round survival test continues as the gray-haired Regular and the giant agree that they need to team up against the FUG monster. The long-haired boy attacks the giant, who withstands the attack by changing his wing to shield mode. Thus, stalling long-hair enough for the gray-haired Regular to blast the FUG monster with his umbrella shinsu beam. However, the long-haired boy easily blocks the beam with Wave Controller shinsu, and then easily overpowers them by smashing gray-hair and the giant into the wall of the test area.

Seeing that Miseng and Goseng are too scared to fight, Wangnan takes over as the next to fight the long-haired boy. However, he's forced to go on the run evading each of the FUG monster's attacks. Wangnan ends up wasting all his shinsu bomb balls throughout the chase, which he's forced to rely on his last remaining useless gum bomb balls, and throws one at long-hair. To Wangnan and everyone's surprise, the gum bomb works as long-hair falls to his knees; bleeding out, and coughing up blood. The gray-haired Regular orders Wangnan to finish it, who throws another gum bomb, but as the smoke clears, he sees a dangerous looking red exoskeleton emerging out of the back of the long-haired boy.

    Season 2: Ch. 5 (Chapter 84)

The group remains shocked at the sight of the red exoskeleton as long-hair is able to settle down, and the skeleton thing returns into his body. Before he could continue fighting however, the 1st Round 30-minute survival test draws to a close, and the remaining Regulars are ordered to take an elevator to the location for the 2nd Round of the test. Long-hair goes ahead first while everyone else waits since they want nothing to do with him.

Arriving out of the elevator onto the floor for the 20th Floor test's 2nd Round, Wangnan, Miseng, Goseng, the giant, and gray-hair take a seat away from the long-haired boy that tried to kill them as they wait for the Regulars from the other 1st Round test areas to arrive. Miseng offers the group snacks, and even offers a piece to the long-hair of FUG in an attempt to befriend him. A bloody Regular arrives out of one of the elevators, and begs to be saved; informing them that this is his last chance. However, Wangnan tells him that he can't since this is also his last chance, and watches him die.

Several flashbacks occur where Rachel goes about telling Bam a story. She explains how a boy made a rock tower on his own to be with a star in the sky. In return, Bam questions if the boy at the top would be lonely due to having just a star for company. Rachel admits to Bam that the boy would be lonely at the top. However, she questions why the boy had to build the tower to reach the star alone, and asks Bam if it would have been better if he had someone like how Bam is currently with Rachel. Back in the present, the long-haired boy is seen remembering this flashback; now making it perfectly clear that he's Twenty-Fifth Bam, but now as a member of FUG.

The elevators continue to open to reveal more Regulars that passed the 1st Round. One of which is the noodle delivery boy, Nia, who quit his job in order to take the test. Nia reunites with Wangnan, which the latter introduces the former to the others. Afterwards, another group of Regulars arrives where a clingy purple-haired Regular is seen having his arm over an annoyed pink-headband female. Wangnan quickly realizes that said girl is the flame-chick that knocked him out during his previous attempt at the 20th Floor test.

Long Summary

    Wangnan's Introduction

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc14_01.jpg
The location of the 20th Floor test

The Tower location jumps to the test location of the 20th Floor where a blonde man, Ja Wangnan, monologues about the purpose of said floor. He thinks to himself that this is the Floor where the Regulars of the first 20 Floors begin to get sorted out once more as those that have made it this far will begin to give up due to the extreme difficulty of this test, and the high cost it will take to retake it. The high-cost being a loan company of monsters named Lurker Cash that preys on the dreams of those that end up failing this test. Wangnan continues by stating that once Regulars pass through the test of the 20th Floor, they will no longer be just starting Regulars, but classified as E-Rank, and will be allowed a lot more benefits than before. However, the test itself is no laughing matter.

Amongst the crowd of Regulars at the entrance to the 20th Floor test area is Wangnan. Giving off a smile, he states that it's time to beat everyone, and encourages himself that he will not be stopped no matter how difficult the test is. The reason being that he was born to be the king of the Tower. However, jumping ahead to the middle of the test, Wangnan is seen laying on the ground on fire with a female Regular looking over him, who most likely caused the fire. As a result, Wangnan ends up failing the 20th Floor test.

At a later time, Wangnan is seen in his room pushing packs of ice against the burn wounds from the Regular that injured him during the test. Thinking over his current situation, Wangnan realizes that he's failed to pass the 20th Floor yet again, but is annoyed that he almost had it this time if it wasn't for the friendly-fire mishap from the female Regular buring him with flames. He reassures then himself that he's still determined to one day be the Tower king, and claims that he will be sure to make said female someone who cooks BBQ for him in the kitchen. Hearing Wangnan laughing behind the door of his room, a group of Regulars working for Lurker Cash arrives, and forces the door open, which surprises Wangnan. Led by Kim Lurker, an assistant manager at the loan company, he orders for Wangnan to pay back the debt he owes them.

Kim Lurker arrives at Wangnan's place to get him to pay off his debt

Wangnan tries to escape from Kim, but a blue arm of shinsu appears out of the floor, and forces Wangnan face-first into the ground. Walking up to Wangnan, Kim points out how it was stupid of the former to think that he could escape from them just because he changed his room and phone number to try to evade Lurker Cash, and states that they will always be looking in his direction. Kim even points out how they know what he ate today, which Wangnan calls them out for being stalkers.

He then taunts Wangnan by asking how the test went, which the latter counters by telling Kim that he should be more careful when he asks something like that. Forcing Wangnan to face in his direction, Kim orders him not to get cocky, and states that it will take hundreds of years for Wangnan to pay them back the money he was given to take the 20th Floor test. Wangnan begs that he will pay Lucker Cash back everything when he passes the test to become E-Rank. However, Kim is left disappointed that he still hasn't given up trying to climb the Tower. Letting go of Wangnan, Kim states that he will give him one last chance to pass the test, which the former thanks him greatly for, but also calls him an asshole.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc14_03.jpg
Kim offers Wangnan one last chance by donating his organs if he loses again

In return, Kim throws Wangnan a piece of paper, and asks for him to sign. Kim points out that it's a special diet service, which Wangnan realizes that the paper is asking him to hand over his body organs for Lurker Cash to sell off. Wangnan complains about this deal, which Kim jokes that the diet will be sure to make him slimmer than ever before. However, Wangnan still isn't buying it, which causs Kim to ask if the former has chosen to give up.

Kim provoke him that Wangnan has nothing to worry about since he's determined to pass the test on the next try. Gripping his fist in frustration, Wangnan chooses to sign the donation paper. He is then told by Kim that he will be given the money the next day, and hopes the Wangnan will be able to pass the test. However, he also gives off a laugh that he will be nothing but bones if he ends up failing. Walking out of Wangnan's room, Kim orders for his bodyguards to get going with him, but notices a short, gray-haired, Regular named Nya Nia trying to squeeze his way through Kim's two guards. Nia announces to Wangnan that he's here providing his noodle delivery, which causes Kim to question how Wangnan still has an appetite after failing the test.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc14_04.jpg
Ja Wangnan, the Regular who desires to be the next Tower King

Wangnan answers by calling Kim an enemy for thinking that even those that failed don't deserve to have a meal. In return, Kim asks for Wangnan not to get mad, and hands money over to Nia claiming that he will pay the noodle meal for him. The delivery boy thanks Kim for the payment, which he answers back that he should be thanking Wangnan since the latter's going to be paying him back anyway after the next test with his organs. The mention of the organs causes Wangnan to give off a chill.

With the guys from Lurker Cash gone, Wangnan is left alone in his room with Nia. Wangnan is left complaining that he would have ordered more than just noodles if he knew that Kim was going to pay for it anyway, and figures that selling his body organs just for noodles isn't worth it. He then asks Nia why he's chosen to take a food delivery job here rather than attempt to climb further up the Tower, which the boy answers that he's already tried a few times. Before he could answer why, Wangnan answers for Nia that the test ended up being ridiculously hard if you're not someone from Jahad's Great Families, and in order to hold on to the dream he has higher up in the Tower, the boy chose to take a part-time job to earn enough money to take the test again. Nia gives off a laugh admitting that to be the truth.

Wangnan looks down in defeat, and states to the boy that life shouldn't be like that, and that people should try as much as they can until they find their real self. Looking at the Jahad ring on his finger, Wangnan states to the boy that he believes that the difference between him, and those that have already climbed the Tower, is whether one gave up on climbing the Tower or not, which he still plans to go up all the way. Having heard Wangnan's speech, Nia hands him a coupon, and asks Wangnan to save it in order to have a meal after the test to celebrate his success.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc14_05.jpg
Wangnan arrives for his final attempt to pass the 20th Floor test

He then leaves Wangnan's room, who finds it idiotic that Nia was impressed by his story. Picking up the bowl of noodles, Wangnan proclaims that he will be sure to get the boy a fancy restaurant the day he becomes the king of the Tower. However, he figures that he has to pass this test first, as he begins putting the noodles in his mouth.

The next day, Wangnan enters the 20th Floor test once more, and is told the rules for the test's 1st Round. The test will last for 30 minutes with ten Regulars participating, and rotating in to fight every three minutes. The announcer states that those remaining after the 30 minutes are up will pass the first test as Wangnan stands ready to pass the test this time. Continuing to state to himself that this is his last chance, Wangnan hears the announcer go on stating that Regulars can use any means necessary to eliminate another Regular, and that those unable to fight anymore will be eliminated from the test. The announcer also states that Regulars who enter the test can be happy at any time, and that there's no compensation for Regulars that enter the test early. Wangnan's name is announced that his test is about to begin as he reassures himself that he can do this since he's going to be the future King of the Tower.

    20th Floor Test's 1st Round - Survival Game

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc14_06.jpg
Wangnan encounters a powerful stranger at the start of the test's 1st Round

Ready to dominate his arena, the test begins, and Wangnan yells out to his surroundings for the Regulars to come at him since he's the top dog. However, he spots a boy in a black cloak with extremely long hair having already defeated the three other Regulars in the room. Looking at the Regular, Wangnan questions who the person is, and wonders how strong he is having defeated the three Regulars now lying on the floor. Thinking back to how Lurker Cash plans to sell off his organs if he loses here, Wangnan tries to befriend the boy with long hair congratulating him for defeating the other three. Beginning to sweat, Wangnan points out how he doubts that the boy can defeat all the incoming Regulars by himself, and states that the two of them should team up. He hopes in his mind that the long-haired stranger will buy his explanation, and continues by telling the boy that the two of them should defeat everyone together since it doesn't matter how many make it through the 30-minute. However, the boy remains silent, and walks away to sit against a nearby wall.

Taking a seat next to the long-haired boy, Wangnan figures that despite him being a bit unpredictable, he has no choice but to continue trying to befriend him. He asks the boy for his name, where he's from, and if he's possibly connected to one of Jahad's Great Families. However, the boy remains silent as the two sit by, and wait out the rest of the first three-minute rotation of the 30-minute survival round.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc14_07.jpg
The giant with the blue wing enters the test

Looking at his Pocket timer saying 2:54, Wangnan gets ready for the next group entering the test area, and figures that as long as he sticks to the long-haired boy, it will be easy for him to pass the test. Wangnan informs the boy that they should attack the moment the newcomers enter, but like usual, he doesn't get an answer back. Wangnan then gets up, and heads for the door to attack the next Regular to appear, but as the door opens, Wangnan is greeted by a giant with a tiny blue wing on his right shoulder. The sight of the giant stuns Wangnan as he instead begins to speak to try to make suggestion to the large Regular.

Moments later, the giant is seen having taken a seat next to Wangnan and the long-haired boy. Wangnan is seen struggling to make sense of the situation as he deduces in his head that sitting in silence with the boy and the giant have made things awkward. He figures that it's a must to defeat whoever comes through the door next to lessen the chance of more test rivals appearing.

The 3-minute timer for his Pocket ends once more as Wangnan gets up, and orders his team to beat up the newcomer. However, upon the door opening, a small school-girl with a backpack enters, and greets the three of them. Wangnan is left blushing in embarrassment, and gives off a handwave greeting in return.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc14_08.jpg
The Yeo sisters, Miseng and Goseng, enter the test

Similar to before, Wangnan is now awkwardly sitting along the wall with the long-haired boy, the giant, and the school-girl. Wangnan hides his face in his hands, and finds it unbelievable that a little girl with such a sweet face, and nicely dressed school uniform, would show up to fight in the test. He questions how anyone could actually hurt such a girl, and thinks that this situation just isn't fair. Raising his head again, Wangnan tries to calm himself down, and reminds himself that failure here will cost him his body, and deduces that he should only be caring about himself at the moment.

The door opens once more as a girl with glasses enters the test area. Wangnan looks over the woman, and thinks in his head that she will regret not wearing a school uniform. He orders the group to attack her, but is caught off-guard by the school-girl greeting her sister. Wangnan stands awkwardly as the two Yeo sisters, Goseng (glasses girl) and Miseng (school-girl), are seen chatting with one another about taking the test together. He then looks over at the giant, and sees that his blue wing has turned into a heart, and is blushing like crazy at the sight of Goseng. She then questions Miseng who these people are, which the school-girl answers Goseng that she thinks they're nice people.

Forced to awkwardly sit again, Wangnan goes back to hiding his face in his hands next to the four people he was unable to fight: the long-haired boy, the giant, and the Yeo sisters. Wangnan begins to break down wondering if he's actually trying to take this seriously knowing that his life is currently at stake.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc14_09.jpg
Wangnan calls out the group for not taking the test seriously

Reaching a breaking point, Wangnan stands up, and faces the other four people in the room. He questions how they can just easily sit around having a good time during a test, and points out how they're all supposed to be rivals. The giant answers that it was Wangnan who suggested not to fight to begin with, which Wangnan points out that he only did it to get a few strong allies to beat everyone else, but finds it confusing how people are so easily getting along. Miseng is the next to speak stating that it would be best just to wait out the 30-minute time limit so that they could all pass together, to which Wangnan answers that the test should be taken seriously, and that those who consider the test a joke should just get out. Pointing at Miseng, Wangnan calls out the school-girl as someone who got lucky making many friends on the Floor of Tests, and was able to be carried all the way to the 20th Floor. He figures that Miseng must have been abandoned by her teammates at this point for being so naive, which causes the school-girl to begin crying.

Seeing Miseng cry, Wangnan begins to regret what he said as Goseng steps in to defend her little sister. She angrily claims that he can fight, but leave her little sister out of it. Wangnan agrees that that's why they're here to begin with, but hears Miseng begin to apologize over and over. She apologizes for being useless, and begs the group not to abandon her as Goseng tries to comfort her.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc14_10.jpg
The gray-haired Regular enters the test

Wangnan remains silent as he hears Miseng tell him of her desire to climb the Tower to find her mother and father. He hears Miseng continuing to apologize as Wangnan thinks back on his actions, and wonders why he chose to act out like this. The door to the test area opens once more as a man with gray hair enters the room.

Looking in the man's direction, Wangnan looks him over, and deduces that he looks like a dangerous one. The Regular with gray hair finds it surprising to find many other rivals here. Wangnan and the giant tense up ready for a fight, but is informed by the gray-haired Regular that he knows that the rule for the test's 1st Round is just to survive for 30 minutes, and that there's no limit to the amount of people that can pass. He points out how this is not the time to waste their energy on a test like this, and shakes Wangnan's hand in agreement that they shouldn't fight here.

Wangnan questions if he was wrong about him, but the gray-haired Regular points out once more that there are still too many rivals here that will make the next rounds of the test difficult. He suggests that they vote to send two people amongst the group out of the test, and chooses to vote for Miseng, which annoys Wangnan that he's deciding everything himself. Goseng calls him out for that, which the gray-haired Regular questions if they would prefer to fight the survival match than doing his voting option, which causes everyone to remain silent.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc14_11.jpg
The long-haired stranger claims that he will defeat everyone here

The gray-haired Regular asks for the next person to decide who to vote for, which Wangnan announces that he will vote for him since it's beneficial to get rid of someone strong over the little girl. The gray-haired Regular points out how ridiculous that answer is, and asks the giant for his vote. Before the giant could say something, a voice is heard stating that he votes for everyone. They all look in the direction of the long-haired boy, who continues by stating that there's no reason to vote since they're all going to fail the test because of him, which surprises everyone in the room.

Standing in front of the long-haired boy, the gray-haired Regular asks if he's serious about eliminating them. He then pulls out an umbrella-like weapon, and asks the boy once more if he's serious. The long-haired boy raises one of his hands, and swipes at the umbrella weapon to force it to the ground. He then aims at the gray-haired Regular, who dodges a shinsu Bang aimed near the right side of his head. The long-haired boy goes in for another attack, which forces gray-hair to finally back off to re-establish himself.

Gray-hair asks what's the deal with this boy as Wangnan tries to make sense of the situation. He finds it odd how the boy's been quiet this whole time, and figures that he's nuts trying to take on the people in the test room 1-on-5. Seeing the long-haired boy walk towards him, Wangnan is left confused as to why he's acting like this.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc14_12.jpg
The giant prepares to fight the stranger as his wing changes to a fist

The cloaked boy continues to walk towards them as the giant appears behind him asking for long-hair to stop. The giant explains that the 20th Floor is a lot different than the previous ones, because no matter how strong one person is, everyone at this point will take them on with their full strength. Pointing out that wasting energy here will make it easy for rival competitors to defeat them in the later rounds of the test, the giant asks once more for the boy to stop this. However, the long-hair boy answers that this isn't a fight. That he's just forcing them all to drop out.

Stating that the boy will regret this, the wing on the back of the giant turns into a red fist as he prepares to punch. However, a beam of shinsu fires between the two of them as they look in the direction from where it cam from seeing that the gray-haired Regular fired it from his umbrella. The giant asks what he's doing which the gray-hair comments that he missed. He apologizes to the giant that his shot almost hit him despite aiming for the long-haired boy, which annoys the giant. Looking at long-hair, gray-hair, and the giant having a standoff, Wangnan questions what's going on at the moment, but figures that this may end up being good for him if the three somehow end up eliminating each other. The long-haired boy then makes his move, and begins to engage in close-quarter combat with the giant Regular.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc14_13.jpg
The gray-hair vs. the long-haired stranger vs. the giant

However, their fight is interrupted when gray-hair fires another beam of shinsu in their direction. Long-hair dodges out of the way while the giant's wing turns into a shield to deflect the shinsu beam.Annoyed by gray-hair's constant interruptions, the giants wing turns into a speed-boot as he charges over to gray-hair's location. Ready to punch him, gray-hair holds out his umbrella ready to counter, and points out once more that he just made a mistake possibly hitting the giant again. The giant answers that it's now time for him to make a mistake as his wing turns into a red fist ready to punch gray-hair.

Watching the three-way fight unfold, Wangnan remains excited hoping that one or more of them get knocked out, or killed, fighting one another. Wangnan then sees the long-haired boy appear between the gray-hair and giant's skirmish, and fires two giant beams of shinsu towards the two point blank. Wangnan realizes that long-hair is a wave controller as the smoke from the last shinsu attack clears.

Looking closer at long-hair, Goseng recognizes the red symbol pattern on the boy's cloak, and questions if he's a member of FUG (a powerful terrorist organization that opposes Jahad and the Great Families). Wangnan questions what she means, which Goseng answers that the red symbol is the mark of FUG's Slayer-Candidate that's usually seen on clothes that members of FUG wear.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc14_14.jpg
Goseng spots the symbol of FUG on the long-haired stranger's cloak

He then questions why someone from an organization as powerful as FUG would appear on something as low as the 20th Floor, which Goseng admits that that's what confuses her as to whether the boy is truly a member or not. However, she warns them that if long-hair truly is a FUG member, then they're all dead. Looking at the long-haired boy, Wangnan questions if he was truly planning to kill them since the very beginning.

Gray-hair and the giant are seen re-establishing themselves after being hit by the wave controller attack as gray-hair mentions that he now understands why long-hair is acting so cocky. At this point, another Regular enters the test area, and complains that he's arrived at a time when there's still too many people left remaining. Before Wangnan could warn him however, long-hair races over to the new Regular's location, and lands a shinsu punch on the newcomer.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc14_15.jpg
Gray-hair and the giant vs. the long-haired FUG member

The long-haired FUG member then appears out of the smoke of his last attack, and turns back to the current group ready to continue their fight. Wangnan, Miseng and Goseng remained shocked at the sight. Gray-hair spits out some blood, and calls out to the giant stating that he's decided not to try anything dirty anymore. He points out to the giant that they should band together to take down the powerful FUG monster standing before them. Ready to fight the long-haired FUG member, gray-hair asks for the giant to block his movement so that he can fire off a shinsu shot with his umbrella, which the giant agrees to. The giant turns his wing back into the speed-boot, and dashes to the location of long-hair. The FUG boy attempts to land a close shinsu strike against the giant's chest, but the giant informs him that he's already turned his wing into a shield to absorb the damage.

The giant orders for gray-hair to shoot as a giant beam of shinsu fires from his umbrella towards long-hair. However, the FUG boy waves his hand to create a shinsu shield that causes the beam to split in half, and spread diagonally away from him and the giant. The two are left shocked by the deflection as long-hair uses a shinsu Bang to blast himself over to gray-hair's location. Gray-hair opens up his umbrella to defend against the FUG boy's shinsu punch. However, the punch turns into a Bang, which catches gray-hair by surprise, and blasts him into a wall of the test area.

Shocked by the sight of gray-hair getting hit, long-hair appears behind the giant, and catches him off-guard. The FUG boy then fires a shinsu Bang against the giant, which blasts him back into the wall as well. Wangnan, Miseng and Goseng continue watching from the sideline as Wangnan realizes that they are just no match for the monster from FUG.

Wangnan vs the FUG member

Seeing that Miseng and Goseng are too scared to fight, Wangnan states that it must be his turn now, and tells the FUG jerk to bring it on. Moments later however, a scared Wangnan is seen on the run dodging each of long-hair's shinsu Bangs, which disappoints Miseng and Goseng. Still being chased, Wangnan opens up his weapon inventory Pocket, and throws a ball object at the FUG boy behind him. Wangnan claims it to be a super strong shinsu bomb, but becomes even more frightened to see long-hair still chasing after him. He continues to throw more shinsu ball bombs at the long-haired boy chasing him as Miseng and Goseng admit that while the plan is not working, he's at least a fast runner.

With only 50 seconds remaining in the 1st Round's survival test, Wangnan complains that time is going too slow at the moment. Eventually, long-hair manages to grab hold of one of the red horns on the back of Wangnan's neck, and throws him to the ground. Long-hair is about to land the finishing shinsu punch on Wangnan, but thinking back to his organs being harvested by Lurker Cash has him able to gather some strength to dodge out of the way of the punch.

Wangnan witnesses the red exoskeleton emerging out of the FUG member's body

The FUG boy moves in for his next attack as Wangnan realizes that he's screwed at this point since he's used up all his shinsu bombs, and only has cheap gum bombs left. Having no choice left but to use it, Wangnan throws one of his gum bombs at long-hair, who's about to attempt another shinsu punch.

The ball bomb goes off as Wangnan rolls away from the explosion. He looks in the direction of long-hair, and notices that the FUG boy is now bleeding out, and coughing up blood. Wangnan gets up wondering how his bomb worked against the FUG member as everyone else in the test area are shocked so see the state that long-hair's been put in. Wangnan stands before the FUG boy confused about the situation as gray-hair yells out to him that this is his chance to finish it. Unable to make sense of anything, Wangnan throws another one of his useless gum bombs at long-hair as the bomb explodes, and causes the surrounding area to get covered in smoke. The smoke begins to clear, but Wangnan becomes shocked to see that long-hair now has a large red exoskeleton shooting out of his back, and is left wondering what he's currently looking at.

Continuing to cough up blood, the long-haired FUG member begins to calm himself down until the red exoskeleton is able to settle back into his body. The group continues to watch in shock as long-hair stands back up looking completely cured. Before he could continue the fight however, an announcement occurs to inform the Regulars of each test area that the 30-minute timer is up, and that the test's 1st Round is officially over.

    After the 1st Round

Rachel tells Bam the story of a boy who made a tower to reach the star in the sky

Another door in the test area opens up as the announcer asks for the survivors from each test area to make their way to the elevator to arrive at the location for the 2nd Round of the 20th Floor test. Wangnan gives off a sigh of relief knowing that he made it through the survival round, but he, and the rest of the group stand by, and watch as the long-hair from FUG enters the elevator. The door begins to close as Wangnan is glad to know that the FUG boy is going on his own since he questions who would actually want to ride with the guy that tried to kill them. Long-hair is then sent up to the next area of the test.

Sometime in the past, Bam is told by Rachel to listen to a story. That once upon a time, there was a person who loved the sight of a star so much, that the boy built up a tower to reach it. People all around said that he was crazy for making the tower, but the person didn't care, and he continued to make the tower all by himself. Eventually, the boy was able to make the tower large enough to reach the star, and ever since then, he's lived with the star to this very day. Laying next to Rachel in their usual rocky environment outside the Tower, she asks Bam if the story she just told was a wonderful one. However, Bam in return asks if the boy would be lonely being stuck alone at the top of the tower with just a star as company. Regarding Bam's question, Rachel remains silent.

Wangnan and company arrive at the test location for the 2nd Round

Back to the present, the Regulars from Wangnan's test area get off the elevator to arrive at the test area for the 2nd Round. However, they see a banner asking to wait it out until everyone else who passed the 1st Round makes their arrival. Long-hair takes a seat away from the group while Wangnan, Goseng, Miseng, gray-hair, and the giant all sit together. Wangnan asks if the room is so empty, because they're the first to arrive here, which Goseng answers that it's the most likely case. Looking at the five elevators before him, Wangnan questions how many other Regulars made it through their starting survival area but answers that only one making it through, or not at all, would be good for him. Goseng goes along with it, but informs him that if it turns out to just be one, it could be a powerful monster that completely destroyed the test area, which Wangnan half-heartedly admits would be the case.

Miseng pulls out a bag of food, and offers the group if they want a snack, which they all agree to. However, knowing what he tried to pull in the 1st Round, the group ignores gray-hair despite him also wanting a snack. Miseng then looks over to long-hair, and walks over to him. Stating that it's good, she offers the FUG boy one of her snacks.

Wangnan points out to the dying Regular that this is also his last chance to pass

Watching from afar, Goseng is left stunned that her sister has no issue being near the guy that just tried to kill them. Long-hair accepts the snack as Miseng walks back over to the group only to get scolded for doing something incredibly dangerous.

Meanwhile, gray-hair continues to look at his hand in silence at the fact that he wasn't given a snack. At this point, the sound of one of the elevators reaching their level occurs as a bloody Regular with scars all over him enters the room. Having trouble breathing, the Regular falls to the floor moments later.

Goseng gets up ready to help him, but Wangnan blocks her movement, and informs her that she shouldn't be helping him since the injured Regular is going to end up being one of their rivals that they're going to have to fight in the test's 2nd Round. Beginning to evaporate away, the bloodied Regular reaches out toward them begging them all for help, and informs them that this is his last chance. However, Wangnan apologizes to him, and states that he can't since this is his last chance as well. They all sit back and watch as the injured Regular completely evaporates away.

Member of FUG, Twenty-Fifth Bam

Back to the past after Rachel told Bam her story, she admits to Bam's question that the boy from it would indeed be lonely. Sitting at the top with no friends or family, and just the star for company. She asks why the boy had to build the tower alone, and answers that it would have been better for there to be someone with him like she currently is with Bam.

Switching back to the present, the long-haired boy is shown thinking back to Rachel asking him if he believes the same thing she does; showing that the long-haired FUG member is indeed Twenty-Fifth Bam. He continues to look down at the snack that had been handed to him by Miseng.

The elevator rings once more as a group of Regulars that had Nia in it enters the room. Surprised to see that it's Nia, Wangnan walks over to the gray-haired noodle delivery boy, and asks if he quit his job in order to take the test, which Nia admits that he did.

Wangnan learns that Nia, the boy who delivered him noodles, is taking the test

Seeing the amount of Regulars, Wangnan figures that Nia must have had a peaceful 1st Round, which Nia again admits to have been the case, and was lucky to have turned out that way. Goseng asks if the two know each other, to which Wangnan answers that even though they only met once, the words he told him during that meeting had inspired him. Wangnan states that this makes him feel like a mentor, which Goseng calls him out for being crazy.

At this point, another elevator dings as a new batch of Regulars come pouring out. Wangnan and company look in their direction, and notice a boy with purple hair having his arm around a girl with a pink headband. The girl orders for the purple-haired Regular to stop touching him, but he informs her that he can do it since she's technically his now. Taking a closer look at the girl, Wangnan realizes that it's the flame-girl that fried him out of the previous test attempt.
