With Rachel left powerless, Dick turns to an old friend/lover Jinx whose magic could be the key to identifying their mysterious enemy. Meanwhile, Conner and Tim investigate attack victims, and Sebastian finds himself at the center of an eerie plot.
"Jinx" contains the following tropes:
- Bad Guy Bar: Jinx takes Dick to one of these and he fights a dark elf and her goons.
- Composite Character: Jinx of the comic books is an "elemental sorceress" who needed her skin touch the ground to draw magic from the earth. Jinx from the Teen Titans animated series is a literal "The Jinx". Titans combines the two so she has both magic from the earth and other magical abilities and things tend to work out well for her. She also has the purple hair of the animated version rather than the bald head of the comic book version.
- Eye Scream: Mother Mayhem forces Sands to drive a pair of scissor into his eyes. the impalement of the right eye is shown in excruciating closeup.
- For the Evulz: Mother Mayhem forces Sands to kill himself in an unnecessarily painful and bloody way (see above), rather than just have him kill himself by driving the scissors into his head or his throat. Possibly justified, since she wants the police to think Sebastian is a psycho. However, the police are in on the frame.
- Frame-Up: Mother Mayhem frames Sebastian for Sands' death to get Sebastian into police custody.
- Taken for Granite: Kori has a bad encounter with a spell and is turned into a statue.
