"What should we do Gladys? I know! Ready? HEEEELLLP! "
— Ned Tedford

International Rescue are called in to rescue a giant heavy metal extraction platform, piloted by IR frequenter Ned Tedford, headed towards a chasm.

Tropes:

  • Broad Strokes: The episode incorporates elements of the ‘’Thunderbirds’’ episode ‘’Path of Destruction’’
  • Distant Reaction Shot: Ned’s cries for help are heard all the way into space...but it’s just because John can hear them through his communication equipment.
  • Evil, Inc.: Averted. Hydrexler comes off as this given it's Obviously Evil CEO but Hydrexler and its investors has nothing but good intentions.
  • Green Aesop: Specifically pollution of the oceans.
  • I Like Those Odds: When Gordon leaves Thunderbird 4 in his exo-suit, Virgil tells him that at that those kinds of depths he'd only have around three minutes before the pressure damages the suit. Gordon cheerfully tells hims that's "plenty of time".
  • Meaningful Name: Ambro. Ambrosia is the food or drink of the gods. Ironic considering Amrbo's plan all along was to poison drinking water.
  • No Escape but Down: When one of Ambro's/the Hood's very persistent goons is chasing Lady Penelope and Parker, they drive right off the side of a cliff. The goon thinks he's won but clearly doesn't realise FAB 1 is no ordinary car.
  • Obviously Evil: The "oily" CEO of Hydrexler, Hector Ambro. Turns out Hector Ambro was just an alias used by the Hood.
  • Tempting Fate: Just before the fire broke out in one of the platform's compartments, Ned mused that there was less “drama” in collecting underwater pollution than space mining.
  • This Looks Like a Job for Aquaman: The heavy metal extraction platform collects pollution from underwater and when Ned needs rescuing Thunderbird 4 is called in.
  • Water Source Tampering: The Hood's plan was to contaminate Clear Water 3000 Treatment plant's water with toxic waste and charge a fortune to clean it up. Successfully averted by IR.
  • Weaponized Car: Specifically, a motorbike that can fire rockets. Lampshaded by Parker. Ironic given the vehicle he drives...
Parker: A motorbike that fires rockets? What will they think of next?
