Toby finds out that The Steam Team are receiving brand new coats of paint – except for him. The Sodor Museum is soon to open, and Toby fears that he is not being repainted because the Fat Controller is going to give him to the Museum! Is Toby the Tram Engine destined to become a museum-piece?

Tropes featured in the episode:

  • Cool Old Guy: Toby works himself into such a panic trying to impress Sir Topham that he ends up doing four other engines' workload.
  • "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: Toby continuously avoids the Fat Controller (and ignores Thomas' suggestion to just talk to him) in fear he will make his declaration to send him to the Museum. As The Fat Controller points out after Toby's accident, what he was trying to tell him was far from the case.
  • The Eeyore: Toby.
  • Innocently Insensitive: James indirectly pivots the events of the episode by nonchalantly implying Toby got left out of the Fat Controller's plans.
  • It Belongs in a Museum: Toby fears this is the plan for him.
  • A Tragedy of Impulsiveness: Toby panics upon seeing the Fat Controller and reverses into a rock, busting his cowcatcher.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: The Aesop given to Toby by the Fat Controller.
