The basketball team at Kevin's school has a good season, thanks to the star athlete. Unfortunately, Kevin's constant celebrating with his friends over the team's victories causes his grades to slip. Jack nearly forbids Kevin from attending the championship game on the grounds that his grades are slipping, but Jack ends up watching the game with him, which he had avoided all year. The team starts out strong, but during halftime, Jack tells Kevin and his friends that he hopes that the other team doesn't shift their focus to the star player, which worries them. During the second half, Jack's comments come true, and the team loses. Kevin tries to console the star player, who simply doesn't want Kevin's hero worship, and after the game, Kevin realizes that true heroes are not the best athletes.
