The Gang heads to Venice to visit their Antonio, who is being haunted the Ghostly Gondolier, a ghost of a traitor who cursed his ancestor.
This episode includes examples of the following tropes:
- Damsel in Distress: The Ghostly Gondolier kidnaps Daphne when she decides to wear one of the medallions he is after.
- Distressed Dude: Antonio is later kidnapped by the Ghostly Gondolier and imprisoned along with Daphne. Mario pretends to be this so he can disappear without suspicion.
- Long-Lost Relative: Mario is revealed to be another distant of Doge Malvolio IV from another branch of the family. He kept his green eyes hidden so he could search for the treasure alone as he didn't want to share it with Antonio.
- Near-Villain Victory: The Ghostly Gondolier almost succeeds at the stealing the treasure, and even though he was eventually captured by the gang it was only out of luck.
- Toon Physics: Scooby and Shaggy are able to fly briefly on a marble gargoyle statue.
