While the gang is on vacation in Puerto Rico, they discover that the ghost of a 16th-century Spanish general is haunting an old Fortress.
This episode includes examples of the following tropes:
- Informed Attribute: Despite the Ghost of Juan Carlos being referred to as a ghost, he looks absolutely nothing like a ghost. He looks more like a middle aged as dressed in 16th-century Spanish military attire.
- Literal Cliffhanger: Shaggy and Scooby are left dangling over a ledge on the fortress with the Ghost attempting to push them off. But luckily for them, Fred and the girls arrive just in time to chase away the ghost and rescue them.
- Tempting Fate: While Fred, Daphne, and Velma go into town for further investigating, Shaggy and Scooby are left at the fortress. Fred tries to calm them down by saying the Ghost won't show up again, saying lightning never strikes twice in the same place. Only for lightning to literally do that after they leave.
