The gang attends a hang gliding contest, only to encounter the ghost of a humanoid pterodactyl, who is trying to scare everyone away from a mysterious cliff.
This episode includes examples of the following:
- Dem Bones: Shaggy and Scooby run into a real ambulatory skeleton at one point... which freaks out and runs off when it hears about the caves being haunted.
- Red Herring: The gang becomes suspicious of Mr. Morbley, the handyman at the Big Canyon Dude Ranch, when they catch him burning papers. It turns out he's innocent and was simply disposing of some trash.
- Right Out of My Clothes: During the episode, Shaggy and Scooby run into a dressed, living skeleton that, when it learns they've run into a ghost, panics and runs away, right out of its clothes.
- "Scooby-Doo" Hoax: The Pterodactyl Ghost is being used to scare people away from a music pirating operation.
- Terror-dactyl: The Pterodactyl Ghost, which resembles a humanoid pterosaur. Justified in that it's not a real pterosaur.
