Overview
While BBA and the others converge on the clinic, Nina persuades Hap to show her his research, and Karim unlocks one of the house's final secrets.Tropes present in this episode include:
- Bookends: This seasons ends like the previous season, with the OA seriously injured and Steve running after her ambulance. Only now Hap is present as well, and Steve manages to catch up to the ambulance.
- The Dog Bites Back: Subverted. For a moment, it looks like Renata is about to abandon Homer as revenge for luring her into Hap's trap in the first place, but she ultimately decides to help free him.
- He's Back!: Homer finally regains his memories.
- In the Back: Hap shoots Homer in the back.
- Mind Screw: Its revealed that the Rose Window is some kind of portal or view to alternate dimensions, but its unclear what its exact nature is, which just makes the house more confusing.
- The Reveal:
- Nina and Pierre funded Hap's clinic and his research hoping he could figure out why the construction crews they hired to renovate the house kept going insane.
- Hap has been harvesting actual physical representations of people's minds from the house's victims and has been using them to map the multiverse. He has the bodies of Homer, Scott, and alternate versions of Jesse, French, and Steve in his lab.
- Karim finally makes it to the attic and sees what's on the other side of the Rose Window — the OA in the midst of travelling to another dimension, but she falls and lands a different one than what she planned.
- She's left injured in what appears to be a movie set. Hap ends up there as well and uses the names "Jason Isaacs" and "Brit" for himself and the OA, receptively.
- Meanwhile, Karim notices Michelle/Buck is in the other universe and gets them to enter through the Rose Window. Afterwards, the Rose Window changes to a regular view of the city and Michelle wakes up from her coma.
- Steve made it into the new dimension with Hap and the OA, with all his memories intact.
- Wham Episode: The episode ends with the OA, Hap, and Steve traveling to another dimension and apparently ending up in the real world.
