- Dinosaur Doggie Bone: Dougal finds what appears to be a dinosaur bone, but Brian stops him from eating it, with Florence taking his side. This prompts Dougal to start an petition that bones are for eating, not for looking at.
- Foreshadowing: When Dougal is talking with Ermintrude, she is seen scratching her back against a tree. Guess what the "bone" that Dougal found might actually be?
- Gotta Have It, Gonna Steal It: When Florence and Brian leave to greet the officials, Dougal is about to take the bone until the security beams were dropped in place. Regardless, Dougal takes the bone while accidentally setting off the alarm and runs off with it before he is immediately caught by Florence and Brian, who heard the alarm.
- "Shaggy Dog" Story: It turns out that the bone that Dougal found was none other than Ermintrude's backscratcher that she brought back from holiday as a souvenir.
