A Plot: On the eve of the annual high school talent show, Beverly and Murray square off against the kids' disenchanted teacher Mr. Glascott over Barry's plan to perform his karate routine.
B Plot: Pops encourages a reluctant Erica to sing in the show, giving her confidence to perform.
- Accent Upon The Wrong Syllable: Barry has a habit of emphasizing the "te" in "kara-te".
- Brick Break: Barry repeatedly fails at breaking a board, until Adam cheats by giving him a piece of balsa wood.
- Calling Your Attacks: Barry does this when performing his version of "kara-te". Lampshaded by Adam:Adam: You know, I was thinking, it might be better if you didn't call out your moves first.
- Surprisingly Super-Tough Thing: Onstage, Barry attempts to break a wooden board with his martial arts skills, but it fails hilariously with the board not even cracking.
- What the Fu Are You Doing?: Barry's attempts at karate. He eventually manages to break a board, but Adam secretly used balsa wood.
