Games inspired by: Sword and Shield — Blood Bound + Coup

Players are split into 2 teams.

Team Verita are Yuhyun, Jongbum, Hyunmin, Yeonseung and Ahyoung.

Team Falso are Sujin, Dongmin, Hweejong, Yeonjoo, and Junghyun.

Teams are given limited number of cards with swords, dual swords, shield or bare hands on them. Each player "equips" these cards for both right and left hand. These picks are not visible to other team.

Team then start taking turns exchanging blows. Attacker announces who they are attacking using sword(s) in what hand. Player in defending team can try to challenge attacker and call bluff on him/her having a sword in the first place. If attacker didn't had a sword, they die. If attacker didn't lie — then doubter dies.

Player receiving the attack declares that they will defend with the shield in right or left hand. Attacking team now in turn can call defender on that too with the same conditions.

Shields, real or imaginary, can take 3 hits and then become unusable.

Each team has a secret leader, when that leader "dies" that team loses. Winning team all receive token of life plus one extra one they give to someone in losing team. Then they pick elimination candidate.

Falso decide not to reveal their leader and use Yeonjoo (who they know is not a leader) as a decoy, using her inability to keep a straight face to confuse Verita into attacking her. After several frustrating sessions of teaching Yeonjoo how to act and bluff they are ready.

Game itself ends very quickly. Dongmin uses dual swords on Yeonseung whom he suspects is Verita's leader. In retaliation, Ahyoung attacks Hweejong who claims to have a shield. Yuhyun doubts it, exposes Hweejong's bluff and "kills" him. Hweejong just happens to be Falso leader and Verita wins. Just in time too, because their leader was Yeonseung who was attacked earlier and had just 1 hitpoint on his shield left.

Verita now have to pick who to give extra token of life to and who to send to Deathmatch. In Falso team Sujin, Dongmin and Hweejong feel responsible for the loss of their team and readily agree to go to Deathmatch. Yuhyun and Hyunmin however want to eliminate dangerous opponents, namely Hweejong and/or Dongmin, and ask who each member of Falso will pick as oppponent if they're picked. Hweejong initially agrees to pick Dongmin, but then gets annoyed at Verita's attitude during elimination candidate deliberations. Hweejong gets picked as elimination candidate and picks Junghoon just to spite them.

Verita can still force Dongmin into Deathmatch — they give Junghoon 3 black garnets so that he could try Black Mission on condition that he will pick Dongmin as his replacement. Junghoon however fails the 100-second "Gyul! Hap!" challenge, as he calls Gyul with one Hap remaining.

Junghoon and Hweejong are playing Double-Sided Poker. Deathmatch players use a deck of cards with numbers on both sides. Each turn, dealer gives them a card front side up. Players glance what is on the back side of their card and bet on the side that they think has the most chance to win against whatever opponent will present. If they bet on front — they will present card as is, if they bet on back — they flip the card. If number is too low on both sides — player can just fold. They can also bet on both sides and if both sides are bigger than opponent's card, player gets extra 10 chips taken from opponent (on top of bet winnings).

Junghoon is getting support from Verita, and professional poker player Yuhyun instructs him how to bet safely and use chips as card counting aid. This helps him against Hweejong who being the hot-headed lion he is makes several mistakes.

Junghoon wins and Hweejong is eliminated.

Tropes:

  • Brandishment Bluff: if you claim you have a sword or a shield you will successfully attack/defend, unless someone wants to challenge your bluff.
  • Out-of-Character Alert: Yeonseung being uncharacteristically outgoing and bully-ish is what tips Dongmin that he might be Verita's secret leader.
  • Picked Last: Ahyoung is the last draft but she wins the game for her team.
  • Potty Emergency: Junghoon had one.
  • Decoy Leader: Yeonjoo for Dongmin's team.
